The Role of Social Media in Combating Cyberterrorism

Abstract

Terrorism has been among the greatest threats to humanity for centuries. With the development of technology, it has changed the tools it uses, and in recent years, it has been using the internet and social media as an important propaganda tool, a method of recruiting sympathizers and for direct attacks. In this study, the concept and history of terrorism was evaluated and information was given about the methods used by terrorist organizations. Data on Cyberterrorism, one of the methods used effectively in recent years, has been conveyed. How terrorist elements influence the area by using social media and how they are used as a propaganda tool are explained.
